Glad We Met Collective was founded in 2017 as an independent booking agency uniting people with different backgrounds from both sides of the Swiss Röstigraben, all sharing a love and passion for music. Since the beginning, we have seen ourselves as part of a music ecosystem.
After more than 2’500 booked concerts, we have made the decision to end this project by 31 December 2025.
We have accompanied culture – often daily, usually on the side, rarely financially rewarding, but always with full commitment. We no longer live up to the expectations we have of ourselves and we are exhausted.
Art is not a product. It is not content. It is encounters, friction, space. And it only comes to life when all parts support each other – artists, promoters, venues, scene(s) and audience.
There are no musicians without audiences, no space without venues, and no movement without attitude.
The music ecosystem only functions when all participants contribute. It relies on collaboration between the various actors involved. We do not see music merely as entertainment. It is a means of reflection and a way to engage with social and political realities. What happens on stage often reflects broader developments in society.
To maintain a diverse and independent music landscape, we need structures that support artistic work beyond commercial logic. Independent music is relevant – not just culturally, but socially. Those who fragment, exploit and monopolise music are, in effect, cutting its connections.
We criticise an over-commercialised understanding of music and the monopoly of large agencies and companies. While a very few in the industry earn a lot, many live in precarious conditions. This imbalance is due to a structural failure.
We are tired of carrying on in this patriarchal, complacent, power-driven and ego-centred business in which many cultural activists are under permanent stress and severe fatigue. That’s why we have decided that our journey as a booking collective has come to an end.
Despite the current challenges, we will continue our work as planned. All confirmed shows will take place, and we are committed to keeping everything running until the end of the year.
We look back with great gratitude. To everyone who has shared this journey with us and to all those who make culture possible. In Switzerland and abroad. To the culturally vibrant centres, to our companions everywhere. To those who nurture the music scene with tenderness, sensitivity, values and a healthy togetherness. Grateful to all those who defend cultural understanding in activism – and above all to the musicians with whom we have grown. You have been and will always be our inspiration.
Glad we met – and thank you for everything.
